We identified an issue with database queries being slow, starting some time after 4pm CET today. The root cause was a cron job that had ended up in a bad state causing multiple slow queries to accumulate, eventually draining the database of most of its resources. We've manually cleaned up the stale queries/processes and things are back to normal again.
